Privacy

Cookies and storage

Last updated 8 August 2026

In short: Sailfloat sets no cookies. We store a handful of values locally in your browser, and they never leave your device. This page lists exactly what. See also the privacy policy.

1. We use no cookies

A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device and sends back to the server on every visit. Sailfloat uses none. We have no login, no basket and no cross-site tracking — so there is no reason to set them.

What we do use is localStorage: a storage area in your browser that stays on the device and is never sent to us automatically. Norwegian electronic communications law requires consent for storage that is not strictly necessary. The values below are stored only as a result of something you do yourself — you pick an appearance, mark a favourite, or dismiss a hint — so we do not show a consent banner for something we do not do.

2. What we store instead

Everything we store falls into two groups:

  • Settings – your choices, such as light/dark appearance and your answer to the consent banner. Without them you would make the same choices on every visit.
  • Local demo content – boats, favourites and messages you create while exploring the platform before launch. This lives only with you.
  • Statistics – we count visits ourselves, without cookies and without storing your IP address. Nothing is stored on your device for this purpose, and no third party is involved.

We use no marketing or tracking cookies, and share nothing with advertising networks.

3. Overview of stored values

The keys below are the actual values Sailfloat stores in your browser. You can find them under 'Local Storage' in your developer tools, and delete them at any time.

4. Third parties

Sailfloat carries no third-party tracking scripts. The forms on the site send data to Supabase, which stores it in the EU (Stockholm), and only when you press send yourself.

The visitor statistics are our own: the numbers are collected in the database we already use for the forms, at Supabase in the EU (Stockholm). We use no analytics vendor, and nothing follows you between sites.

5. Deleting or changing

Everything sits locally with you, so you delete it yourself: clear site data for sailfloat.com in your browser settings, or delete the keys directly under 'Local Storage' in developer tools.

Deleting them only loses your own settings and demo content. Nothing on our side is affected, because none of it is stored with us.

6. Contact

If you have questions about privacy or storage, get in touch via the contact form.
