What should I keep in mind about Bergen weather?
Western Norway is rugged and changeable — rain and wind can arrive fast. Check the forecast, stick to sheltered water on rough days, and bring good rain gear no matter how fine it looks when you set off.
Do I need a boating licence to rent a boat in Bergen?
It depends on the boat and on the country you will be sailing in — the rules are not the same in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. When we open, every listing will state whether the boat requires a licence, and you are responsible for holding what is required where you are. How much does it cost to rent a boat in Bergen?
The price is set by each owner and varies with boat type, size and season. When we open, the aim is that you see the total including the fee before you confirm — today you cannot book anything here.
Is the boat insured when I rent in Bergen?
Sailfloat provides no insurance. The rental agreement is between owner and renter, and the boat is covered by the owner's own policy — renting out for payment is often excluded from ordinary leisure-boat insurance, so the owner must have cleared it with their insurer.
How do I get to the boat in Bergen without a car?
When we open, every listing will give the exact pickup point, not just the place name. Check how you get there — and back by the agreed time — before choosing a boat: some docks are in the city centre, others need a car. If in doubt, ask the owner before booking.
