What drives the daily rate
Four things explain most of the variation: boat type and size, how many it carries, season, and where in the country it lies. A small snekke in the shoulder season and a large day cruiser in the July holiday are entirely different sums.
A skipper is the fifth factor. If someone comes along to operate the boat, you are paying for their competence and time on top of the vessel.
The service fee
Platforms add a service fee on top of the owner's daily rate. Sailfloat takes 12% of the rental from the owner, who keeps 88%. For comparison, the largest Norwegian operator sits at roughly 20% in total, split between commission and a transaction fee.

A deposit is not a cost
Most owners place a hold on your card. It is a reservation, not a payment — released once the trip ends without damage.
The deposit is meant to cover the deductible if something happens. The deductible is a different thing again: the share of an otherwise covered claim you pay yourself.

Fuel is the most common extra, and it varies most with how you drive. Cruising slowly uses dramatically less than planing.
